100% forgive me if I'm wrong because my SS's are RWD (2006 model) not AWD but doesn't it waste the viscous coupler if you run an AWD SS without the front driveshaft installed? Or is it acceptable on the dyno since the front wheels didn't turn?

That is correct it can damage it. At least he now has video evidence of it though when he needs to get a replacement.

Also for some some that Tunes and is familiar with those trucks, He should know that is an early intake tube ment to clear a mechanical fan set up thats why it has a hard 90 in it. The later CAI tubes for E-fan set up trucks are not like that. The OP can get just a replacement CAI tube if he wants to.

Mine is also like that and really never thought about the 90 as a restriction. I hate that notch for the mechanical fan, looks stupid and probably disrupts the air before the 90. The thing is AFE's best CAI for GMT-800 trucks, the $365 Momentum GT has the exact same stupid tube. I wonder if any other manufacture has a tube that works with the AFE box on 800 trucks. Airraid has a universal "build it yourself" tube option.

Momentum GT

AIRID sales just the tube by it self. I believe K&N does too.
I have the AIRAID Jr. Kit as that's all you really need.
it was shown on a dyno long ago. I think Blackbear did the testing. Various kits on the same truck back to back.
Ironically I have 2 Airid CAI kits I have never used but the boxes are damaged....

The 149 isn't straight thru for rear power and the coupler is only used for front power transfer?

I thought they were straight thru for rear power, like a normal case

My research before I found the new open box AFE system for $90 (quite the deal) the Airaid jr tube is the way to go using the OEM box.

I've been contemplating pissing good money away on the $410 dollar Banks Ram Air system with the optional $199 "super scoop". Not because it actually has a horsepower gaining ram air effect... It's the under hood "wow" factor that nudges at my wallet lol

its only for front power transfer...i was told by rpm transmission and a few other companies when i firsted started getting this truck dynoed, when on the dyno with the front driveshaft out to throw it in neutral after a pull and not to let it wine down on its own
