What? Driveway detailing was discouraging trick or treaters..... lol.

I want to do the same with my LQ9 at some point and theoretically dump it in my 94 reg cab. I went a little hoarder like and bought a few NNBS 4.8's and 5.3's ($100 to free) off our Kijiji site friends and relinquished them of their 243 heads and TBSS intakes and junked the rest.

Hopefully nothing got hurt when it hydrolocked on you. Since you were just trying with the starter the rod should be okay.

The Denali has a really nice interior setup..... I wouldn't mind one myself but as evidence by my signature plus 2 more that aren't on the sig..... I don't need anymore trucks.

The exterior already looks a million times better!

Yeah it was weird. I live in the Windsor Park area right next to the U of A, so there's a lot of very wealthy folks, I guess walking by and seeing some poor guy cleaning his truck means he's not handing out candy or something.

I'm hoping to track down some 243's in the near future. Know of a good place to look?

Small update. I wrote a midterm on Halloween and came home to start ripping the chrome stuff off.


Started with these

They left a little bit of oxidation even after all the glue was removed.

Next I took off the chrome handle covers, front bug guard and vent shades.

Still have to take care of this. Oxidation was pretty bad, I've already got a new stock gas cap, just need to paint it black. Picked up some Duplicolor automotive black and clear, it should do the trick until I can get it in for a full paint job.

Shot of my rear axle. Definitely missing my lift block. It rode like garbage on the way home, I'm guessing the combination of being dropped like this and expired shocks are to blame. The stance is growing on me though, I'm not sure what I'll do yet. I have the Jeep for wheeling and playing in the mud, might just keep this thing for pavement.

The wheels need love baaaad. I honestly think I might just get a new set and put theses up for sale. I was quoted $900 to have them cleaned up and refinished matte black. Which, I could get a new set for that much. Once I tried to clean them up I noticed two of them leak right at the bead. Very slowly, but they were bubbling.

Couldn't stand the interior anymore and had to tackle it. I'll post pictures when it's all done, but the doors and leather look a million times better after being wiped down with a mild degreaser.

Here's the trim I brought into the house to wash with hot water.

Progress is slow but it's moving forward. Still trying to come up with a solution for the engine. I think this weekend I'll start pulling the heads off and see what's going on in there. It was definitely hydro-locked with coolant the other day, but today I managed to spin it over.

Also, I can't, for the life of me get the driver's seat to work. I moved the passenger side all the way up so I can work on the carpet, but I can't get the driver side to move. I'm certain it's a fuse, because all the connectors are tight, and nothing functions on the seat, no heat, no lumbar, no recline. I read the owner's manual and it have me a few hints, but no fuse was blown. I guess I'll have to check literally every fuse and then result to tracing the wiring.

And then the stereo stopped playing sound. I put the radio on and tested the 6 disc changer to make sure it worked, and it did. I didn't want to drain the battery so I hooked up the trickle charger to avoid draining the battery, and when I got back the stereo worked like normal, but no sound came out.

Anyway, a shot with the rims slightly shined up.

After you get new rear shocks, just cut 1 ring off the bump stop. That will give you more clearance in the rear and not allow it to touch and cause the rough ride.

It makes sense now, driving down these rough Canadian roads hitting the bump stops every other second. The front probably ins't any better.

Take a picture of your rear shackle. Judging by that rear bump stop I bet there's a drop shackle installed as well.

I did compare it to the SLT and it's identical. But there is a way to drop it at the front of the leaf also right? I forgot to check that.

You don't need to cut a ring off your bump stops. If you look at it, you'll notice the bump stop is bolted onto a drop-down bracket. That bracket it bolted to the frame. Remove the bracket from the frame, and you will then see an extra in-used hole in the frame, direct center of where the bracket used to be. That's the hole that GM uses for the 2WD truck bump stops. Remove the bump stop from the bracket, and bolt it directly to the frame. Your truck will then ride normal again.

Good place to start if the fuse is good, is under the driver seat at the rear-left slide track, electrical connector, check all the connection's for good fitment and contact, It gets hot and deforms the plastic connector and doesn't allow the good contact, take it a part and check it, the power and ground will be obvious as they are much larger gauge wires.

Power seat will be on a circuit breaker that self-resets when the short circuit goes away. They often get super hot to the touch when shorted. Could also be contributing to your dying battery. Here's some pics of one that I fixed a while back. It also had a broken wire to the air bag.
