Budget is $600 to $800 a month.
Goals as of now is to just get it where I can keep up with I guess some stock muscle cars.
What parts I buy I want most to be interchangeable to a 6.0
Cause eventually when I find a nice price low mile one I'm gonna buy one
Primary use, I work offshore so I only drive it about a week a month
when I'm home around town, but I have to drive about 400 miles round trip to work once a month

I'd wait and find a 6.0 first and go from there... Pretty much everything will transfer over but you will want a bigger cam once you go 6.0. Build the 6.0 on a stand and throw it in.

Yea I was thinking that but I just want to do a little to the 5.3 first just to get the feel and have a little speed but I'm just gonna do bolt ons. No internals yet. After I get a 6.0 I'm puttin this 5.3
In my little brothers truck cause his has over 300k miles on it and I'm gonna sell his motor to get a little extra cash.

In that case long tubes they will go right on the 6.0. And a tune to go with that... Cold air intake and a stall converter... A bone stock truck will even bennifit from a higher stalling converter

What kind of muscle cars do you want to keep up with? I think even with a max effort N/A 5.3 in your truck you would have trouble keeping up with a new V6 mustang.

Starting with headers and stall is a good idea, then build up a 6.0 stroker with good heads and swap it over later.

Good luck, keep us posted.
