Default 2000 Sonoma 5.3 build

well, finally decided to start a build thread. After driving a truck my friends built, 96 Sonoma with GTO LS1 and T56, I had to have them build me one. Back in March I bought a 2000 Sonoma 2.2 automatic with a locked up motor. (sorry for all the cell phone pics) Picking it up from the seller and dropping it off at buddy's shop.

on some forums these pics show up huge. sorry if they do.

Getting ready to pull the old motor and clean everything.

On to the good stuff. My build consists of(probably forget a few things):

Alum 5.3 with polished crank, new rings, and new bearings

CPW wiring harness

CPW poly mounts

LS6 intake

LS6 valley

LS2 oil pan

ported, polished, bowl job, valve job, milled 30 243s

EPS 218/226 .595 .598 112 +3

lunati .650 dual springs

pushrods

stock rockers with comp trunion upgrade

C6 accessories

underdrive pulley

85mm Maf

ported LS1 throttlebody

LS1 injectors

BRP 1 3/4" Longtube inframe headers

3" dual exhaust through X pipe and magnaflow mufflers with turndowns

melling oil pump

comp timing chain set

T56 out of a 2000 camaro including the hydraulics, flywheel, and I think a mcleod clutch. Had my friend rebuild it.

Hurst short throw shifter

DJM 2" drop spindles and 3" blocks

Tick performance speed bleed

EPS start up tune

still need to get a new differential and 4.10

Some of you probably noticed the yellow...my friends got bored.

Hoping to be able to crank it in 2 weeks. Have to finsih the wiring, install, clutch pedal, clutch master cylinder, wait for my start up tune from EPS. Hoping to be able to daily drive it by the end of july/beginning of august.

Will start using my real camera now, didn't want to get it dirty, lol.

do you plan on running a/c? what radiator and fans do you plan to use? that looks more like a H3 oil pan than a ls2. H3 seems to be what every one uses on s10 swaps so you don't have to notch the crossmember?

Should be really fun when its all finished! Im planning on doing a swap in my xtreme when the 2.2L in it decides its had enough. Except Im thinking about doing a 6.0 and maybe punching it out a little bit.

Yep, your right h3 pan and we didnt have to notch. My bad. Running a c5 compressor. Notched the frame to clear it. Stock radiator and some jegs dual fans that fit right in.

i dont think the stock 2.2 radiator is enough to cool a v8. i hear the stock 4.3 radiator can handle it though.

I know the 4.3 can, I think they are the same... The last truck my friends built had a stock 4.3 and it was fine. Guess I should go check on the size, lol.

Hope so, this heat wave is keeping us from working on it. Non air conditioned shop FTL. So might be another 2 weeks to start. Only work on it on the weekends.
