Got the rear axle buttoned up today thanks to Bryan (axisT6 ). He did a great job and is top notch in my book! He even built the 12 bolt for my '68 while he was here. I think he is gonna post up some pics of the gear set-up, but here is the final product.

Thanks for the props man, I had a good time at your place. You and your Dad are cool people.

Anyway, here is the pattern I got on the Yukon 4.88s:

Notice how the pattern is centered between the root and crown of the gear teeth. That is what you want.

Backlash: 0.008"
Pinion Depth: 0.036"
Pinion Bearing Preload: 25 in-lbs. (went a little beyond spec to account for pinion seal and the use the truck will see)

Ok. After one hell of a busy couple weeks at work, a week long vacation to Mexico, and minus one girlfriend... I am back to work on the truck! Finally picked up the engine parts from the machine shop too. Gonna try to at least get the short block built this weekend. Here are some teaser pics.

the picture size really doesn't matter, but 1024x768 works best

after the pics are uploaded . . . copy and paste the [img] to the thread, it's the last line in the photos to copy
