Got some parts in. A complete LS3 intake and a set of electric fans. Looking at cams now. Texas Speed and performance says a 225/230 .617''/612'' 112 LSA is recommended for my application. Would yall agree or is there something better??

Not knocking Texas Speed at all, but there are better people out there to get cam recommendations from. Should be a pretty stout setup when you get everything finished up!

Why the ls3 intake? Are you gonna go with a turbo or a supercharger? You'll also need to swap your front accessory drive if you use the car intake.

The ls3 ended up being the choice i went with after research and seeing multiple threads. Ya I know I need to swap couple front accessories no biggie. Ya I will be putting boost to it but it will be long time. Have to beef up tranny and rear end before.

i've got a na 408 and now that it's dialed in it is sweet. still kind of jealous of all the turbo and supercharger builds on here though.

I have looked at your build, its legit, good work! Boost is good just something I cant afford right now, want to get a solid engine first and drive train.

Welp just caved and made a hefty order from Texas Speed for ported heads, stall, complete cam package, and all the components needed for these. Parts should be here end of next week. Build should start soon, picks will follow of course.

Did some work this weekend. Got the engine out and on the stand. Next will be finish taking off the front accessories (that ugly *** clutch fan!), remove old heads, bolt on the new goodies, paint. Will be doing engine bay clean up as well. Will be relocating coil packs somewhere.

i guess i'm a little confused...what direction are you going with this truck? Just staying N/A for a while and then essentially doing a whole rebuild again once you have the money for boost? If it is the LQ9, you can't run too much boost unless you go with Meth/E85 etc etc.... Slightly different project, but I have a Camaro that has the lq9 in it, I'm going 317 heads ls9 gasket, ls9 cam, etc....essentially the basics and throwing a huron speed kit at it for my turbo... I'll run into detonation issues from too much boost before i will run into reliability issues from the motor (in my opinion and from what I have read). Why not just keep the lq9, stud it and gasket it, throw boost at it (cheap kits from vendors on here) and with the money you save from not buying heads cam etc etc etc, beef up the trans and rearend? The heads you bought probably cost half of what the turbo kit runs from some of the vendors on here...just food for thought, but i have watched my dad tinker with NA for so long and never get exactly where he wants....Threw nitrous at his race truck and now it runs its **** off. He said he wish he would have just went forced induction right off the get go.....just my own personal opinion i guess
