I’m not sure if starter under the intake or fuel pump under the intake is worse. 2UZ-FE in my girl’s brother’s Tundra has the starter under the intake. I’m trying to pull the engine cause rod knock and that thing is a massive PITA.

$50 knock off pump hanger for the win. Of course the universal sending unit was just THAT far off that it’s going to require a touch of dremel work. Should have the tank back in tomorrow.

Of course everything has to be modified in some way.
Of course I go to bump the key and hear the pump and…..nothing. Not getting power to the plug. Looks like I’ve got some investigating to do.

Bypassed the relay and fuel pump fired up. Bought a new battery and hooked it up. Starter clicked. Bypassed everything and shorted the solenoid and it clicked but no spin. Motor spins with a pipe wrench so it’s not froze. Looks like it’s time for a new starter.

Decided to tear the starter apart. Bendix was stuck. Spun freely but wouldn’t move. Soaking it in some simple green and working it back and forth and it’s freed up nicely. Gonna slap some grease in it and reassemble and see what happens. It’s a reman’d unit anyways so if it doesn’t work then meh. A brand new AC Delco is only $90.
