Default 04' RCSB project truck!!

Picked this up last night from a member here. Here it is beside the 95'

I have several different ideas for the truck and would like some of you guys input on some things I should do. I've been wanting an 99-06 body style for awhile now. I've had a 88-98 RCSB truck as a DD since I was 16.

I've had tons of SC'd trucks and for once I want a turbo so that's the plan. I was actually thinking about putting in a stock 6L but I've actually thought about putting the built LQ9 from my 95' in it and the 4.8 back in the 95'IDEAS??

I know if I used my LQ9 it would need a different cam and some LS9 head gaskets at least. Is there any other changes that would need to be made? I'm not looking to go real crazy 6-700whp is what i'd shoot for and DD capable for sure. For turbo a 76mm kit should be good I believe.

Also I have a line on a complete high mileage 6L/4L80 combo from an 01' 2500 complete with everything I want for under 1k. I probably could get the hydroboost off it too! I already have a 6L so I wasn't so sure about doing this. I'm not worried so much right now about the 95' regardless it would still have an LS engine.

Now for SUSPENSION This my first 99-06 body style truck so I'm not as familiar with them. I like the low static drops but that's not what I'm looking for. Can you do a 2/4 on these trucks without HAVING to knotch the frame? What's the best way to do the 2/4 drop on them?

Good looking truck Kyle, glad you found something closer to home. Plus its a white GMC lol

You can get away with 2/4 w/o notching the frame, however the axle gets pretty close to the frame. If you plan to haul at all I'd recommend the helper bags, otherwise you'll be fine w/o the notch. I've had 2/4 drops before, both backs were hangers/springs and I had coils on one and spindles on the other. I highly recommend the McGaughy's 17" spindles, you'll lose a little turning radius but will retain factory ride for the most part.

Imo leave your 95' the way it is, I've loved that truck ever since you finished the swap Pick up that 01' 6.0/80E combo and throw some boost at it

I'm pretty sure for the drop I'll go with spindles, shackles and hangers.

Still not positive on the engine looking for a little more input.

Id go with 2" springs in the front so youll keep the option of running 15's up front incase you want to make it a drag truck. Drop spindles would limit you to 17"+ wheels

The spindles I got are for 17''+ wheels. I doubt if this truck ever goes to the track anyways. I'm sure I'll have lots of fun with it on the street though
