I cant comment on the gearing. I want more gear, or a 6L swap. My poor Tahoe is a dog off the liine
The only reason I’m choosing not to go turbo I already have a turbo car and it quite a bit more work and monies, I don’t wanna push higher then 8 psi considering the motor is higher on the compression side

I need some opinions on carrier setups I talked with some rearend suppliers and they suggested a Yukon dura grip for my application considering its more aggressive on locking the rear up and the clutch elements are replaceable compared to the tru trac, yes the tru track ls more quiet but doesn’t lock the rear nearly as well and with the dura grip he said would throw in upgraded clutch springs to reduce the wear under hard acceleration.

I have a Tru Trac in the front of my Toyota based crawler. Its been in there since ~2007 and it has seen a lot of abuse from the PO, who is a buddy of mine so Ive been there for a lot of the abuse. I havent abused it at all yet

Its damn near open at this point. She will unload when I try to drive it up the trailer at an angle without ramps. I dont know if that speaks to its durability and ability to survive abuse, or if that means its a POS

Same truck has a Detroit in the rear and Im a fan

The truck in question also has a whopping 43.1hp, so lets not get carried away

Unhappy And the chaos starts....

The Denali Decided it wanted a new rear end sooner then anticipated, Spider gears are smoked Luckily the ring and pinion look fine and i was able to drive it home. Detroit true trac should be coming in the next few days with some other goodies..

Definitively missing some teeth here.

yummy metal bits.

dang! good thing that's a decently-strong magnet!
i don't think my spiders were that bad @ 199k when i replaced mine, but they were definitely done.

Default New True trac installed and ripping

Got the new Rear installed with a Qa1 panhard bar, B&M Diff cover and got the hellwig sway bar powder coater

Here is nice burnout vid after break-in

Parts all laid out for the install

spider gears are so destroyed they just fell out

gear lash within spec, no spacer adjustment needed

Bling Bling

mesh pattern check, I am by no means a expert but when using used gears the coast pattern is more important
has not been howling or blew up so ill call it good
