I wouldn't call the 6.4 a "dual turbo" because the two are directly connected to one-another and essentially act as a single. I think they call it sequential, but Idonno.

I see other recommendations aside from the PSD. I recommend the 7.3L over ANY light truck diesel ever created. That includes even the latest Cummins and frankly, more because the Dodge truck simply cannot handle what a Ford can because its chassis was simply never designed or built to do so. It also includes the Dmax because that engine, while it seems to run just fine, gets positively WRETCHED fuel economy according to the boys I ask while fueling. I've heard 10-12mpg more often than I care to remember and that's been the reason I flatly will not consider getting a GM pickup for pulling a load. I like the chassis enough and it looks great. It must pull the load and get at least 15mpg for me to have interest.

Ultimately, the 6.4L seems to work well and I'm seeing hundreds or thousands on the road already. I drive for a living, so I see much of what people choose. That, along with this '08 redesign, allow me to notice.

Ford doesn't make the cushiest, softest riding pickup(GM does) and they don't build a great engine for a mediocre(at best) pickup(Dodge does), but they do make the strongest on the market. Don't think so, examine the chassis' for yourself and it should be clear.

They actually call them "dual-stage turbochargers." Either way, they aren't really twins and since they're basically connected, and it's hard to call them dual because one seems to activate the other. They seem more like that of the Toyota Supra Turbo. One for low end torque/hp and another to keep power at higher rpm.

What's impressive about it may be more along the lines of max torque at only 2,000rpm and the fact it starts in under 2 seconds down to negative 20 degrees F.

Seems like a good idea to me, but I still can't justify that much cash for a pickup truck.

If you're thinking of using it for plowing snow, this one seems like a great choice. Older ones, like the one I drove(7.3L) don't really like the cold and when the glow plugs go, it may be stuck for the winter!!!

If you wanna tow, I believe the F-350 still has the highest rating of its class. There's also the F-450, which will pull 24,500 lb. That one is also good for over 6,000 in the bed! WOW!

I work at a ford dealership, and not too impressed with the 6.4. the last one I looked over was getting 9mpg. Stay away from the 6.0 unless its still under warr. cause your going to need it. I also recommend the 7.3L over everything else. good luck.

When i started my current job 2 years ago, All the work trucks were Fords...
Now we have 2 Dodges with Cummins and a GMC with a Duramax, and the lonely Excursion with the 7.3. Its gettin traded next year for another GMC..
The Excursion pulls good, its got a Hypertech, Intake, Exhaust. and the GMC and Dodge will out run it and out pull it.. and both them are stock...... for now...

We do have the New Dodge with the 6.7L Cummins Auto 6sp... Gettin the insurance and tag finialzed on it next week.. and the next truck will be the new LMM Dmax...
