Im in the market for a diesel truck. I dont know much about them thats why im asking. Im also posting this in the Dodge area. But were there any year dodge trucks that had motor problems from the factory or trans issues. Im selling my 08 to get out of a high car note. Just dont want to buy a problem child. All the 03-07 6.0 Powerstrokes are prone to leaky head gaskets due to the poor headbolt design, and the EGR tends to be a regular problem too.
IMO, the Cummins is the best option for a diesel application...followed by the Duramax.

Thanks man this is the information Im looking for. I know the Duramax is a great motor and all but im just not too big on the styling of the trucks. Im having to look for early 2000 models due to money. Thank again man!

my buddy has the second fastest d-max in his divission in the nation and he has 35 grand in it. he swears that he would buy a cummins because it cost so damn much to build a dmax.

Well good grief. Does not seem like many Powerstroke fans responded to this one. I have a 2000 Powerstroke and love it. The 7.3 is a great engine and holds up great to abuse. Just keep fluids and filters changed and you can run 'em for a long time. I don't have mine heavily modded but its consistent as hell.
