Default Is he getting robbed

I guy that works with me has a 03 or 05 f-250 diesel that he over heated! So he brought it to the ford dealership & they told him he has a blown head gasket, bearing r falling out the turbo & needs new water pump & fan clutch! Dealership said 6200.00 to do the job! Does this sound right r did they see him coming?

wow thats a really good price for an engine. not sure what labour rate is down there but your probly lookin at around 24 hours of labour. and those turbos are $1000 or more and the oil cooler and egr cooler have to be replaced with the head gaskets so it may not be that far off

It sounds about right. they might be a little steep, but thats the dealership for ya. I would try to find an independent diesel shop and get a second quote. You do not want the turbo to start leaking oil into the motor, as it can cause a serious problem with runaway, and then a headgasket will be the least of your problems.

he would be cheaper to stud the heads and delete the egr. you can get it done cheaper then that. And if u find a good diesel shop they will warrenty it and you will never have head problems again

6.0 motor i assume they are very common to loose those things . the water pump and fan not so much . those are actually very easy to do on a 6.0 imo.

i doubt its a 7.3 ( some 03's were) i doubt that it has those problems .

Yeah it's the 6.0L. He has done bought it back to the same dealership to get more work done! I think this time it's the injectors & some wiring with a brake job. Going to be like 3400 this time! I don't know what tree he fell from, but it must have been a tall one...
