that i dont know of but if you have the money and you want to put some good pistons in then you should go ahead and do those diamond pistons or the je's and put some good rods in it. go ahead and have your heads worked while your in there also. you wont be dissappointed and then you will also be able to step up the shot when you want to.

Old school was if you want N20 you want forged pistons. Period.

5.7 bore can be achieve with 5.3 iron blocks

Nitrous does NOT require forged pistons but they are more resistive to detonation harmonics making the motro more survivable in poor tuning or out of specs runs.

The stock pistons are not cast, they are hyperutectic[spelling?] A lot of people are using these type of pistons in nitrous and boost applications. With a good set of rings they'll work fine. If you run too lean or have detonation the forged pistons may hold on for a few more seconds but there are no pistons that will hold up under those conditions.

Thanks for all the help. I got a 5.3 aluminum block from a little birdie and I'm boring it to 3.905 thes pistons are readily available in cast and coated so I can boost and spray the **** out of it! w/ good tune of course.

you can only bore a 5.3 block 10 thousands, I've been researching and it is hard to find affordable 5.3 pistons. You can buy a LS1 crate for about $4200, That isn't much more than you will spend building a 5.3 liter.

Nitrous and high compression equals BOOM! Nitrous likes lower compression.

Well, it does like high compression too. But with the increased cylinder pressures with the use of nitrous, the higher the compression, the higher the chance of detonation. So then you would have to take out a bunch of timing. I think that is why piston companies offer lower compression pistons for nitrous applications.

STOP!!! YOU CANT BORE AN ALUMINUM BLOCK TO LS1 BORE SIZE...NO WORKY. I have read in the LS1 bible (how to build high performace LS1/LS6 V8s) that you cant go as crazy with the boring on an Aluminum 5.3 as you can on the iron 5.3. DONT DO IT!!!! Aluminum blocks have sleaves in them and the sleaves are not thick at all. Bore the iron block to LS1 status!!
