nitrous question

I thought the ZEX kit had a controller and a noid in the box.
I didn't know they ZEX kit sprayed before the MAF. Personally I am a not a fan of dry kits and spaying the MAF scares the **** out of me!!! I know some guys do it and don't have issues but you wouldn't catch me dead doing it.
That must be one of the reasons why nobody likes ZEX around hear. The noid often fails and it's set up.

[QUOTE=Steve-O-08;4658066]You actually can get a wide open throttle signal from the TPS. Most window/wot switches use the 5 volt signal as a reference to determine wide open throttle. My nitrous switch uses a signal from the TPS (purple wire I believe) as well as a coil ground wire for the RPM window activation. My system won't activate until the engine is at 3000 RPM AND Wide Open Throttle. This type of switch is the safest way to go in my opinion.
It sounds to me like you are looking into a Zex kit. They seem to pride themselves on a three wire install. Power, Ground and a TPS signal. Although their system uses a TPS signal to activate the system only at WOT, it is never recommended to spray under 3000 rpm. If you decide to go with this system you can still use a WOT/Window switch with it. I got mine from Nitrous Outlet, one of the sponsors. it's a great piece. Their newest switch actually has a lean cut out feature that monitors air fuel ratio via a wideband input. Harris Speed works also has the same features in their microedge controller.
NGK TR6's are worth the upgrade. An easy 20 bucks or so. People have sprayed on stock plugs, but for the money it isn't worth the problems it can help prevent.[/QUOTE\]
Thank you for saying this because as i read down the first page i could not wait to say exactly what you said. The ZEX kit has some kind of fueling feature that monitors your bottle pressure, It's pretty cool I absolutely sprayed the living hell out of my 4.8 with a little ZEX box... And the three wire install calls for no extra's at all, That box is all you need minus a nozzle/lines/bottle.
Tr6's for sure

sorry i did not realize the op was on a stock tune. i plan on pulling a little timing since i have it advanced already and where im at only has 91 octane. but i just want to b cautious with it starting off.

As said above, We don't prefer dry shots at all... What sucks about a dry shot is- Yes, the maf will ad fuel-BUT-9 times out of 10 it also adds timing which = A big gaping hole in one of your pistons and crop-duster exhaust. Also pay attention to your fuel, I always try to get premium at gas stations that have seperate hoses for the different grades of fuel. Also, I would personally start with a 50-75 shot.

As stated above.
If you are asking about a WOT TPS wire it is probably because you have some sort of TAPS switch weather it be a Window, Progressive or just TAPS switch instead of a micro switch.
If that is the case it will be the Purple or green wire on the connector that goes to your TB. It varies depending on model year.
The TR6's should be OK for 75 but you should consider a non-projected plug like the B6EFS(one step colder - same as TR6 but non-projected) or colder if you plan on spraying anything more later.
BR7EF(2 steps colder)
B8EFS(3 steps colder)
B9EFS(4 steps colder)
All companies recommend not spraying below 3000 rpm so if you are not using a Window switch then use a hand switch to activate the N20 after 3K.

From what I have read it is not recommended to run the TR6 for any amount of nitrous. Use the B6EFS which is the same heat range as the TR6 but has a non-projected tip. Having said that, many people have been using the TR6's without issue. I had a set(TR6's) that I bought a while back before reading into it and that is what I am going to use but as soon as I need to change plugs I will replace them with the non-projected tip B6EFS or BR7EF if I step up the shot.
Here is the breakdown:
Plug = Shot Size
B6EFS(1 Step Colder) = 0-75
BR7EF(2 Steps Colder) = 75-150
B8EFS(3 Steps Colder) = 150-225
B9EFS(4 Steps Colder) = 225-300
Here is the breakdown:
Plug = Shot Size
B6EFS(1 Step Colder) = 0-75
BR7EF(2 Steps Colder) = 75-150
B8EFS(3 Steps Colder) = 150-225
B9EFS(4 Steps Colder) = 225-300

I pulled the tr6's and switched them for the BR7EF's when the nitrous was installed. I know some guys that are running the tr6 with nitrous and have no issues but I switched because Nitrous Outlet recommended it..

Ref the projected ngk plugs? Why does it matter if there is a tip or not? My buddy has a cammed 6.0 and he has ran 200,150 and 100 wet on his tr6's and had no problems. Having a tip or no tip really doesn't seem to make a differnce to me but maybe there is some info I'm missing. Fill me in guys.
