Question Nitrous Gurus in here PLEASE!!

Alrighty then, for ***** and giggles i threw a 100 shot onto my 1984 SWb chevy truck. Motor is a 305 with just a small cam, and edelbrock intake and carb. along with full exhaust. Well i know a 100 shot is pushing the limit on a stock bottom end 305, but the motor has about 5K on it.

Anyways, my ? is my friend has been told by some guys who run the bottle on their truck and say retard the timing every 2 degrees per 50 shot or so. Now is that right? and if not then what is??

plate kit has been on it for a month or so because i was unsure about the timing and never got any reall help... Im so anxious to spray this thing!!!

with that 305, you will want to take out a few degrees of timing. If you follow what nos says in the book, you will be fine using the 2 for 50 method.

Unless the 305 is really weak, a 100 shot is VERY safe. General rule is v-8s can take 150 on a stock motor. General rule is 2 for every 50 so with that you would be safe.

to answer this the right way... you need a dyno and a wideband and tune it in right, but most people don't do that... I guess I'm not most people.

you dont need a dyno if you can read plugs, but it sure helps. I dyno everything, just to get it close and then tune it by the plugs at the track. It works for me.
