Default New to nitrous, please help

Ok so I am new to nitrous but learning alot from everyone on here. I have a built 4.8l in a pulling truck. Looking to put a plate system on and not sure what size bottle, or how big of a shot to go with. It will be fired off a push button, unless suggested other wise. Stock bottom end, head studs layered head gaskets, stock heads with stiff springs, and the msd box for the coil controls. Any help would be great. If you need more info just post up and I can tell you anything else.
Thanks Brian

i would suggest a WOT switch over a push button. when things get hairy your feet usually respond faster than a finger gripping a button. a shot of nitrous while not at 100% throttle can F up your week. also, try not to spray the motor below 3,000 RPM to be on the safe side. the typical bottle size that you will see is 10lbs. bigger is nice to have but not necessary. as for the shot size, how much are you looking for? i had great results with the cold fusion plate system. there are other sponsors that offer plate kits but i have not tried them.

I am thinking like a 75 or 100 shot. Seems to be the best from what i have read on here. Just testing the waters right now seeing what everyones opinions are.
Thanks

If your running good fuel and do your timing right, it will hold a 150 shot all day.

Id go with a WOT switch also,, you can use a push button as a Arming switch.

10# will be fine.

75-100 is fine on a stock tune. if you plan to go much bigger you will need some timing adjustments at the least.

everyone says they only want 75-100...then they get hooked and before you know it they are sitting on a 150-200. the stuff is like crack.

Probably gonna run the tr6 plug. That is what i have been reading works good. What would you recomend? Also I am trying to figure out my timming. I am running the msd coil control box and they supply me with timming pills. I need to contact them for thier input. This engine has an edlebrock victor jr manifold and holley carb, so all my tunning is done through the msd box.

Stock bottom end, layered head gaskets, arp head studs, stock heads with stiffer springs, hardened push rods, comp cams 219/231@>50, 607/617 108lsa. Victor JR intake, holley carb, edlebrock/msd coil control box.
That is the specs on the engine. slightly built I guess you would call it. We are just playing around with the nitrous idea right now, as we are also looking to maybe turbo my other truck.

MSD makes a timing retard box with a dial on it.. Might wanna look into that?
Dial back 1* per 25 shot under 100 shot, and 2* per 25 shot above 100 shot. i think is the rule of thumb.

So if your gonna run a 100 shot, pull 4* timing and start from there. if your gonna run a 150 shot, you pull 8* timing, 200 shot you pull 12* timing. That is, if your current timing isnt knocking/pinging.

and up to a 125-150 shot TR6 will work.. It is suggested to run br7ef (non projected) plugs for 150+
