Yet another newbie

Hey all,
My son and I are new to this forum, but have been on a few others now and again. We are in the process of building a 1968 Chevy SWB pickup powered by an LQ4/2004r.
Some background info;
Truck frame is actually a 72 GMC originally a 6 cyl truck. Cab is from a 71 GMC Sierra Grande 402 big block. When done, It will have a 68 front clip, full AccuAir air ride, and a late model power plant. We were headed down the path of a full roller late model 350 only to find my block had a wicked crack in the water jacket.
Well, after some searching we found a great deal locally on an LQ4 long block, so as with many projects, we changed directions.
I know some may argue that we should have held out and bought a complete take out, with all assy., harness etc… but I hope we can source what we need and keep the cost similar. Part of this adventure is a learning experience for my son who is 16 and new to the hot rod, muscle car family.
Anyway, I hope to leverage my experience as a former GM mechanic and a retired Air Force motor pool guy to keep the project moving forward and will look to the forum for assistance and guidance as needed.
Some project photos can be found here. Project Zachamachi (Zachamachi is my sons board name on another forum)
