Default and yet.....

another noob.

Hey everyone, my name is Brad and I'm from Jacksonville, FL. I drive an '04 2500HD crew cab, with the 6.0L gas engine. I came here in search of some basic, yet rewarding (for the money) mods. I so far am looking at the K&N FIPK (dry element), MagnaFlow cat back, and a trip to my local tuner for a HP tuners session.

My truck is 4x4, so I am more intrested in gaining some MPG and drivability than anything. I'm tired of not being able to "root" when we go camping and do a lil off-roading. Sound like I'm in the right direction so far? Also, looking at my exhaust system, it's already 3" and looks to be stainless/mandrel bent tubing....is there really 600 bucks worth of gain with the catback, rather than just the muffler? I am not going to sweat 6 hp for 500 dollars (assuming the muffler is 100 bucks).

tune will make the biggest diff. just get a muffler and a tip for exhaust

efans are a good mod but you might not want them with towing

Welcome! You've got the right idea so far. I'd add e-fans to you list also since you'd like to gain MPGs. They'll give you close to 15hp/17tq and add to your current MPG

Thanks for the welcome everyone!

I'm excited to learn as much as I can from this site, and all of you. I grew up wrenching on gen I sbc's, so this new stuff is.....well, just that to me, new "stuff". Anyhow, I have a good idea what works and what does'nt, just not so much on the EFI, maping stuff. I mean, I understand it just fine, I'm just used to using a screw driver and a timing light to get it there. Thanks for all the great ideas everyone!
