Default Truck newb, help and recommendations welcome

I started on LS1tech with my Z28 and just yesterday purchased an 06 VortecMax Texas Edition Silverado Crew Cab. I got it so I could garage the car and give it some much needed and long over due TLC. A long list has already begun on what I want to do to the truck but feel free to throw out any ideas. It has a LineX bed liner already. Other than that I cant tell you much about it yet because I dont know myself. Anything you fellas can tell me about what I have would be nice too as far as specs. I was also wondering what the difference between a Z71 and what I have. Thanks.

From reading a little bit, I'm understanding that the VortecMax means its the same 345hp/380tq engine as whats in the Silverado SS?

the difference between you and a z71 is 4-wheel drive. but you picked a great truck to start with.

so what does a 2wd truck with an offroad package mean? if it helps any, I have the buttons that say "4 auto, 2 high, 4 high, 4 low", I thought that meant fully blown 4wd? Forgive my ignorance, this is really my first time ever dealing with trucks. Thanks guys.

That means you have a 4x4 without the z71 package. The z71 package is skid plates, different shocks, and I think stiffer torsion bars. You got a very nice truck to start out with, welcome to the truck side
