gentleman and ladies (if any) i got a question. i have a 2001 silverado 5.3 ecsb. with the mods in my signature other than the new 4l60e tranny i got.. i have 153,223 miles on it as of today. the truck still drives and pulls like a champ. but when im at a dead stop and floor it the truck takes off but i hear a ticking that sounds like somethings gonna break, so i let off. what can this be. alot of people say thats the gm tick but it sounds like a push rod is gonna shot through the block. would getting the springs, rods and rockers (possibly ls6 cam) swapped help the situation?

 

Are you sure its not detonation? Marbles in a coffee can sound?

possibly ditch the hypertech and get a custom tune?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the "GM" tick pretty much just in the 6.0s wen cold.

 

Exhaust leak, ive heard some pretty nasty ones??? When is a mod gonna move this.....

 

it does sound like marbles in a can. what can i do to correct the detonation if that's what it is?

addd some octane booster.then keep it in there until u get a professional tune done.

 

Take the Hypertech off... Allllong time ago on a previous truck I had a hypertech and when I would put it on the 93 oct setting even with 93 in the tank it would detonate. Get rid of the Hypertech and get a custom tune...
