New to PerformanceTrucks...
Looking for information / suggestions / feasibility of changing/swapping the 454ci /7.4l engine I have in my 1998 Silverado K2500 longbed. Even with gas prices down I'm looking for something more economical for hauling a 25' travel trailer during upcoming retirement. I have not swapped vehicle engines before--I have a close friend who has and we would do the work together. I understand that there would be many trade-offs, giving up one good thing to get another thing, but my questions are:
1/ Suggestions for detailed engine swap instructions or directions?
2/ Best engine to swap in a 350ci / 5.7L range?
3/ Which engine would have greatest compatibility to existing stock 1998 K2500 engine and 4-wheel drive set-up.
Any tips or pointers would be greatly appreciated...
