Radial vs. bias ply

Radial vs. bias ply
I have a 2000 rcsb, stock suspension, and it made 700 rwhp and haven’t got a good set of tires just to use at the track yet , and I would prefer to use a dot approved drag radial but I’m worried about hooking. So do I need to just go ahead and get a good set of bias plys just so I know I can hook or any y’all hooking with radials?
