Hi, gang. I'm a Pontiac gearhead looking for ways to improve the performance of my '99 GMC 5.3 for the next 100K miles without rebuilding it (it has 200K on it now). First thing I would like to do is over-ride the governor that shuts it down at 96-MPH. Have already upgraded the front suspension for better handling, looking to move towards the rear now. Interested in tire and rim combos, bolt ons, computer reflashes, whatever. I'm an old school gearhead, so the computer stuff can be intimidating to me at times, but after fooling with the diesel in the Excursion, it's getting less overwhelming (LOL).

welcome, yeah the electronics can be overwhelming! but the only way you can get rid of the speed limiter is to buy a programmer or have someone do a reflash.
