Hi ya'll...I'm new at this stuff but here's what I got:
'04 Chevy Single cab reg. bed
Stock 5.3 with AIRAID intake, Edelbrock shorties, Hypertech tuner, Gibson cat-back, and Auburn posi with stock 3.73's out back.

Pretty typical setup, but was wandering about some intake setups like using say an LS6 intake or other....any input would be nice but I dont wanna drop a grand on that F.A.S.T. intake lol....Thanks ya'll

Welcome, there are a few threads on intake swaps, but they benefit more in high hp setups.
Have you thought about a cam swap?
I dont mean to push you away from the intake, but i dont think you will see great gains with your setup. when your motor starts to move alot of air from forced induction or large heads/cam it will help more.

Ill see if i can find some threads for you...

here is Regency's thread, he has a heads/cam/full bolt ons/custom tune on a 5.7, and gained a little over 2 tenths in the 1/4.
You may gain more or less, but i think there are other places to put your money right now for greater gains

Yeah I was kinda thinkin about maybe goin with the LS6 cam and springs with the intake of course but I really don't wanna sacrifice too much on the MPG side...My original goal was just to maximize eficency of moving the air...and I've heard that the intake they put on these trucks are pretty restrictive

Up top the truck intakes dont do as well, they are designed more for lowend torque.
If i were you i would do the ls6 cam and springs then get a custom tune, the tune alone would help alot.
