Thanks, SixSpeedSS. Love the stance on your truck and it shines like no tomorrow. I also have a C/K. Sporting Late Model LT1, currently w/ blown rearend & trans. that isn't much better. Once I put motor swap in, stock 700R4 lasted 1wk. Built 4l60E, 2wks. Replaced w/another 4L60E built by same guy, just shy of a year(snapped input shaft). He wouldn't cover it. So my best friend loans me a 700R4 in the meantime. Would love to swap a T56 0r 4L80e in, trans. will do for now. As funds permit, C/K gets rearend 1st.
Primary driver is my 04.

Thanks. The shine is just a camera trick...Original paint from 1990 on both sides of my truck.

T56 swap is easier than you think, especially if you have an LT1 in it already.

It's easy? Maybe, but cost puts it out of reach. I figure the hardest thing(after the $$) is sourcing a pedal asmb.(5 spd. C/K or F-body?) Last year on Pwr Tour in Kzoo, I talked to Keisler and Rockland. $3.5k-4k sounded hard on wallet. Of course, I'd say that's all new parts. If it's junkyard, then you probably need a looksee @ guts. I'd really like to do a T56 on the 04 in future too. May just have FLT build a 4L65E. But ...4l80E swap no worries. I'll need something to back up power I hope to install this year. No power infusion w/o a better trans.

The pedals/master cyl are stock c/k truck. I used a stock fbody slave & stock fbody LT1 style trans ('94 up has .50 od 6th gear & is much stronger than '93 unit with .62 od 6th). My trans has held up behind my 505 dynoed hp/ 535 ft-lb TQ 461 BBC for almost 8 yrs/30K miles. Last year on the Power Tour, I lost 4th gear when drag racing an LS1 T/A with N20 (had a fender on him when it got stuck in 4th). I drove it the next 1800 miles without 4th gear. When I got it home, I pulled the trans & found 3 broken syncro keys for 3rd/4th gear. They were $6. I also upgraded the 4th gear syncro & switched to a steel 3/4 shift fork while it was apart (total parts - $190).

You can buy an LT1 trans, bellhsg, flywheel, clutch, hydraulics for less than $1500. The c/k parts from a boneyard for around $100-150. It is the best investment I have ever made for my truck.

Stock 454SS's blow with 3.73s & no OD (8mpg, too). When I had the 3.73s in my truck, it went 147mph in 5th (stock it topped out at 107 mph). I now have 4.56s in it. I never tried to go over 125 on the Power Tour (don't really care anymore). I averaged 14.3 mpg on the whole trip (drag racing on track in WI, used the A/C the whole trip, construction traffic, etc). My truck runs 12.6 @ 109 mph as you see it in my sig.

Welcome from your neighbor in Wi. I like you also lerked here for awhile and still do mostly because I still know very little about my 02 been a 67-72 guy all my life. I also can't wait for the spring rains to wash away the salt and get my trucks back on the road.

Thanks to all, glad to be a part of PT. You're all like an extended family. I enjoy the stories, the builds, the humor. What works, what doesn't. ETs, pics, & vids. It's also a good learning experience. A ton of respect for one another too. Hopefully, I can meet some of you guys in person. Milan isn't that far! Good luck to all. See ya.
