I joined ls1 tech yesterday thinking thats where I should go. Turns out, this is the correct place. I just bought a used lm7 from an 04 tahoe. It is identical to the current engine I have in my 01 Silverado (as far as i know at this point). I am looking to rebuild it with as much power as I can while maintaining the DD purpose of the truck. Any suggestions on swapping other ls parts onto this motor to obtain more ponies? If I understand correctly, I can get many parts from an LS6 that are direct bolt ons such as the intake and cam. Is this correct? Also, the engine supposedly had 120K miles before it blew a head gasket. What might I expect in the machining realm? I've heard these motors are pretty tough.

Welcome. I call gilbert home, but travel for work.
Yes LS6 stuff will fit. No that is not the best path to big power. You need a turbo kit from someone like trick. Custom kits just for our LS motors. All you need is one of his kits. Fuel upgrades to support it, and a good custom tune. You can upgrade the valvetrain. LS7 lifter, trunion rocker upgrade, hardened pushrods, LS2 style timing chain, aftermarket dual valve springs, and a nice healthy cam. Isky triple twelve is the hot boost cam at the moment. You will want to upgrade your trans and rearend. Otherwise you are good to go with a very street able DD that is really fun too.
