i own 2005 duramax annd yes it blows smoke
i heard about this site thru a friend on ls1 tech
also the ol man gots an avalanche with a max energy hypertech chip on 20 inch stockers it a hell of a good truck

Welcome to the site.
I had me one of them there DMaxs, mine was all stock too...
For some reason it was really loud, threw a little smoke and would white smoke the tires with ease. 
You can see some pics of it in my profile, sure was a lot of fun.
I traded it in for a 2010 CC early July and as always the performance has crept back up...
