hi all, like your site. doctor's told me when i was young "no fast cars or motorcycles" so i always stuck with the trucks. but by the looks of most you have some pretty fast trucks. way out of my league. just looking for some advice and different options. I have a 2001 GMC Sierra 4.8l extended cab 4x4, 3.73 with a tru trac, dynamo max cat back, and some crazy priced tube with a k&n filter. Truck is approaching 300k(180,000 miles) and I have a low milage 5.3l I'd like to replace it with.

Welcome! You have a lot of different directions you can go with your truck. I'm sure someone smarter than me will chime in with some insightful advice

Hey thanks, the motor is clean looking on the outside but has been sitting for quite some time in a warehouse. Without going into a full blown rebuild I would like to know what it takes to check things out(gaskets, bearings, etc???) I had planned on a building some thing for a super charger but I plow with it in the winter. I am gonna put some money in the top end heads, cam and fresh the bottom basically just looking for a bit more grunt, reliability.

thanks
