New guy from NC
#1
I finally registered for the forum. I did a lot of reading on the site when I was in the processing of getting my truck put back together. I have always owned Cummins and bought my first 5.3 in July. It is a 2007 Chevrolet 1500 LTZ and I like it a lot. I live in Asheville, NC and look forward to reading on this site.
My truck was basically stock until the weekend after Thanksgiving. I was driving back to NC from ME and my truck dropped a lifter just after 130,000.
Therefore, since I had to replace the lifters, I decided to go ahead and do everything else while I was in the position to do so. I ended up doing the following:
From Comp Cam:
XR275HR-12 222/224 cam:
COMP Cams: XFI™ RPM Hi-Lift, XR275HR <br> Great Street / Strip Camshaft for Midrange and High RPM Power
High Performace LS1 Valve Springs:
COMP Cams: Beehive™ Valve Springs: Top 1.075" O.D., .650" I.D.; Bottom 1.310" O.D., .885" I.D.
5/16 7.400 Magnum Push Rods:
COMP Cams: Magnum Pushrods: 5/16" Diameter, 7.400" Length
Hydraulic Roller Lifters:
COMP Cams: Hydraulic Roller Lifters; Chevrolet Small Block, 305 & 350
3-bolt Timing Chain Set:
COMP Cams: LS Adjustable Timing Set (Non-LS7 Type Gen III/IV Engines w/ 3 Bolt Cam)
Then I also went with the following for the exhaust (along with my MBRP 3" cat back I currently had):
The Y-pipe:
Off Road Y-Pipe, 07-09 Silverado/Sierra. Use with #70-2267, 72C2267
The headers:
07-09 Silverado/Sierra 1500, Tahoe, 2/4WD, Pacesetter Long Tube Headers
I went ahead and replaced the oil pimp while I had the chance and I already had the lifter seats and the "AFM block off plate" from GM.
The truck now runs better than ever. Thanks for everyone who posted about this topic as I read many threads. It looks like a great site and I look forward to reading about other subjects to do with these trucks.
