Yeah, not be redundant, but I spent $$ on a programmer and didn't notice much of anything, I was pretty pissed, but luckily still had the box and just took that junk back...

Ok guys, I did some searching, lots of reading, and taken into account of almost everyones suggustions on here; I have decided to do away with the handheld programmer idea. As soon as the funds become available(and the wife says ok) I will be doing a Wheatley tune. Charlie even sent me a nice email explaining the pros and cons of a handheld vs a custom tune. Now thats customer service. I mean I dont even own his product yet. What a nice guy!!!!

The only reason I was wanting a programmer was that around here thats all there is in the parts stores; Hypertech and Supertune is all the parts store guys talk about. Not too many tuner shops here either and the ones that are mainly do the ricer cars. Besides I always thought custom tunes was for ricer cars with laptops on the passenger seat and a couple of NOS bottles. Anyway thanks to all you guys for steering me in the right direction and saving me some $$$.

I dont have a drag truck, probably never will. Its just a Tahoe 5.3 with a CAI and a cat-back. I'd like to have some more mpg; a little more torque for towing and make it a little more fun to drive.

Welcome! I see you had the same idea as much of us had. Check around and do the research before you spend money. That is the most important thing you can do, and know what you want. I highly recommend getting a custom street tune, if there is anyone in your area. If not the mail order will be next best thing. Anyways good luck with whatever you decide.
