Default New guy from Indiana!

Hello all. New here from Indiana. Just recently bought a 2007 Silverado crew cab new body with the 5.3 flex in it. It's been a great truck so far, but I've got one concern. I've heard a ton about these things using a ton of oil due to the active fuel management. I just recently did a cai and a throttle body spacer. I will be doing the dynatech supermaxx exhaust in the near future. But for now, I have a diablosport tuner on the way so I can tune out the afm. Am I going in the right direction here? Or is there more I'm missing? Any and all help is greatly appreciated guys!

Thanks, Alex

They tend to use about a quart every oil change. My 2000 does anyways but my 07 doesn't use but 1/3 of a qt. It's from the pcv setup rather than the dod.

My intentions are to have a good street/off-road truck that is reliable. It's using about a quart every 1600 miles. So I'm goin to disable the afm with my tuner and see if running 8 all the time helps. I really don't want to do internal motor mods yet because I owe on the truck and it's my DD.

Welcome! My truck had the same problem, and I installed a new improved gm PCV and it went from burning a qt ever 1000miles to maybe 1/4qt every 3000 miles. Not to sure if this will help on the newer nnbs motor, but it is a cheap part to try!
