Just ran across this site today. It looks like it's got a ton of info in it.
A little about me: I've had a '02 Avalanche Z-71 for a little over 2 years and have made a LOT of mods to it. I've always been a gearhead and am starting to think about taking a few more steps in an attempt to make my big slug run. I know that I'm never going to get a 6000# truck to run like a Camaro but there has to be a lot of room for improvement.
My current mods include:
3" body lift
17x9 wheels
33 12.50 Procomp tires
Edelbrock shorty headers
FM 50 single in with duals
80 mm TB
Predator
4.56 gears
GM tranny cooler
K&N drop in
Cowl hood
Addco syay bars
Pioneer AVIC-N2 DVD/NAV
1000 x 1 Memphis amp
50x4 Kenwood amp
2 12" Infinity Kappa Perfect sub
Pioneer TSA door speakers
chrome door handles, bezels, tailgate handle, and step plates
tinted windows
ect, ect, ect....
I'm looking to drop about a second off of my quarter mile times. I think my first step will be beefing up the tranny with a shift kit, servo, and a converter. I'll try to do my research and not ask a lot of stupid questions.
Here's a couple of pics of the AV:

Thanks ZEUS, I'm on 5 Avalanche forums and we're having a GTG in May at Huntsville Dragway. The last one we had at a drag strip I was pretty disapointed in my performance. The AV was a DOG off the line, my best run was a 17.0 at 81. At that time I still had 3.73 gears with the 33" tires (and a bad bank 1 O2 sensor). I have since gone to 4.56 gears. I figure that I could run a 16.9 as it sits but my goal is to be in the 15's. I know that doesn't sound very fast but it would make me happy to do with a vehicle as heavy as a bus.
I may bite the bullet and finance a supercharger (don't want to go into debt
) but I think the tranny/converter would be the best place to start, I have a few months to git-er-done.

Yes, they are sitting in the garage in the boxes that the 4.56's came in. I would sell them very reasonably. I assume your a 2wd and just need the rear's? I have both.
Let me know if your serious.
