hi everyone my name is mike im a infantrymen in the army about to get med boarded out and i like to go fast lol. i have a 02 mustang gt that makes 724rwhp on 21lbs of boost, nothing on the car is stock! i just picked up a 04 gmc sierra sle step side reg cab and it has the 5.3ls gen3. sence i just finished building my mustang its on to the truck now. i've heard lots about this motor and what to do and what doesnt work that well. so i need some ideas! i just bought an aluminum 5.7l block and some ls1 heads, so heres where im starting im going to port and polish the heads replace the springs with ls6 springs and replace the valves. next i was thinking about adding z06 cams and a new f.a.s.t. intake manifold unless someone knows a better cam to get more power. also full exhaust and eventually a diy turbo kit. but the turbo will be after a while i would like to see how much power i can make naturally before boosting it. if anyone has any better + cost efficient ways to go please im all ears. keep in mind this will be my daily driver so i dont want a cam that is to choppy but a nice idle and a nice lope more importantly i want it to make some good power!

Alot of the truck guys havent had much luck with the FAST intake sealing to the heads, they appear warped straight out of the box. Most guys go for the TBSS(trailblazer SS) or NNBS(2008+trucks/SUVs 4.8,5.3) intake manifolds, nice gain in power and about 1/4 of the price.

Z06 cam will give a bump in power from stock but not enough for N/A power hungry people. However, once you add some boost it will make nice power.

You say Ls1 heads, did you get 241 or 243 stamped heads?
