Default Hey everyone!

Hey guys! My name is Riley and I'm 19 years old. I have a 2004 silverado with the 5.3L. It's my daily driver and it's becoming a prerunner as well. I live in CALIFORNIA. Yes, that means hard core emissions test so no long tubes for me anyways I'm here to tell you guys my plans for my truck and hopefully receive feedback and opinions on what you thinks best for my truck. Thanks!

Welcome to pt.net. Btw thorley tri y's are smog legal here, I believe they are part number thy-310-c. There's an option for air which may or may not have come on your truck. I know the dual air headers are legal on mine

I heard there not legal but I guess ill give them a call. I plan to run headers, bolt in cats(for smog) to an X pipe with 2.5" tubing exiting through my bedsides with loud *** mufflers like magnabullets. and then get it tuned and run it till it blows them swap with a cammed LQ9. hows that sound?

I don't think they moved the cats up that year so they should be good. But with the cats, they MUST be in the stock location or the smog techs will visually fail it. What part of Cali are you in? Justin Gadberry (Blackbear) is in San Diego and does amazing work as has been said before

I personally wouldn't hollow the cats out, but depending on how well the tune is done, you MAY be able to get by with it

2.5" is plenty fine for duals even with a 6.0 unless you go forced induction. I don't know what Cunningham charges for a dyno tune or whatever but Justin's tune (I met him in San Diego and he tuned my truck in person) was only 300, with 50 off for being active duty military. Plus the great thing with Justin (and possibly Cunningham too) is that retuned are free since you're already in his computer. So when you upgrade to an lq9 later on he can change the parameters of the tune with little hassle
