Sup all.

Here to find the tweaks for my 97Z71. Any basics you can pass along will be great.

Starting out with a new 355ci 97 model with new heads. Planning on a lil bit of everything.

I've had a lot of expirenence with different axles and such that I have owned. I don't set them up myself, I have a guy set em up for me. I used to be a big fan of the detroit locker that I had in a 1 ton 14 bolt 85 GMC jimmy. It was the stuff. This truck I have now though my friend strong armed me by giving me a warranty with the new locker and such. No doubt about it the difference between the 308 and 373 is like night and day. It's all in what you want and the use you will be doing. I was so against the Auburn I did not want it because of the clutches, but it has proven itself on about 5 occasions. When I did the build I totally went through the whole axle. Bearings, locker, ring and pinnion. I did keep the stock axles because I am not going to lift it over 3 to 4 inches. It was well worth it. I have 1200$ in it and that was with labor. Probably could do it cheaper but cheap is not alway's better. Just like my friend said, he would prove me wrong. The Auburn is quite and smooth where that detroit clanked and sometimes locked going around corners and such. I still believe in the detroit locker too. With your truck I think you would be impressed with 373's and a Auburn. It will affect you at the pump but off the line it is where it's at too.

I saw some info under the thread of Drivetrain. Like the Detroit Locker; the Minispool does not give going around corners and such. Your axles are locked your tires would screech as well. If you give gas while turning the car/truck would not want to go turn, it would want to go straight. An Auburn on the othe rhand is cluthed packed, it will give and allow minor slipage on corners and such. For the most part it will pull posi trac.
