2008 tahoe 5.3

I tell you what I'm not happy with gm I had a 2004 dodge Durango limited awd with a 5.7l hemi sold it and got this 2008 Tahoe ltz 5.3l 4x4 with only 125000 thinking better mpgs NOT the old Durango with 236000 would get 17 to 18 all day long and would run off and hide from the Tahoe. The Tahoe will only get 14 maybe 15 down hill and it acts like its tied to a stump! I sure wouldn't try and pull anything with it! this thing is sick! Wish I had the old Durango back that's sad any ideas or should I just get rid of this turd?

That's what I was thinking but the ole hemi would eat this thing and get better mgps doing it! don't get me wrong I like the Tahoe better other than the lack of power and poor mpgs but that's kinda a big deal really.

That year is likely only rated at 14-16 city and 20 on the freeway if you drive the speed limit or like 65-70mph.
If you have no history on anything, doing a tune up would be wise. Clean the MAF, clean the throttle body, check spark plugs, replace front o2 sensors if original at 125k as they only tend to last 100k miles give or take.
Check over the front end too, make sure the brakes are in good condition with no dragging. Check the wheel bearings. Make sure tires are at 35psi. Over sized tires will make that engine work harder and only have the 4L60e makes it worse compared to the newer 6 speed auto's.

I have had it to 2 dealers and 3 local shops every thing you said has been done and or replaced! Its all stock O and the 14 mpg is on flat ground at 65 any thing over that or any hills it goes down from there. I have not hooked a trailer on it yet not sure it will pull it empty LOL. I hauled cars with the Durango and got 13 to 14mpg loaded and it pulled it like it wasn't back there.

Beats me then, still sounds like something is wrong somewhere. I'd need it in my hands to watch data logs with my scanner to see if anything was wrong.
My crew cab truck could avg 16mpg if I drove more than just city only and I can get 20-21 with ease going to the cabin and back.
