OK, the wife wants me to do something to change the ride around a little bit, and given that it is in such good shape for my investment I figure I can do a little to it as I go.
In 99, they didn't make a Z71 Suburban, only the Tahoe. Since it needs a new back bumper and some body work anyway, I think that will be the direction I go with it. A simple and clean Z71 clone. I think my buddy has a set of the Z71 Tahoe wheels. Some color matched bumpers, grille, and fender flares call it good. Maybe throw some 285/75R16's on it after a key swap. She will love it.

Went in to register the wife's ride this morning. They gave me a fit because the purchase price was so cheap. Even though I had a state legal bill of sale with signatures on it, they still gave me problems.
So they put on the registration that I traded the lincoln for it. Whatever, at least I didn't have to argue with them anymore.

Went out to work on the computers at a local salvage yard today. I was talking to him about finding me some grey leather buckets, and how I really wanted some out of a Denali. What do you know, he just bought a rolled 99 Denali. It had the right color interior. I am getting the front buckets, the front console, the rear bench, and all related wiring.
It needs to be cleaned up, and the drivers seat has a tear, but all in all, pretty happy about finding it.

The truck started running really really badly. Wouldn't accelerate, etc etc.
We put it up on the lift and found that it had the stock original fuel filter still on it.
You can really tell that 99 was the last big bang for the vortec 350. It feels WAY more powerful then my 94, it is almost funny. In 99, they kicked the output up to 255HP, I guess to level the field with the new 5.3L that was just coming out.

I'd be running a carb intake anyway. Roller cam, one piece rear seal, power, etc.. Would've gained alot. I have the plain 250 horse one with bolt ons in my c10. It sucks

Heather wants the suburban to look like an offroad truck. I was out at the salvage yard the other day as they were getting a tahoe in. It had a rusted up chrome brush guard on it. Since it was rusted up, they let me have it. The even pulled it off for me.
I lost the picture of it when I got it home. Tonight I tore it all apart, tossed the strangely shaped headlight guards in the crap pile, and attacked the remaining pieces with a 36 grit flap wheel. Followed that with a 80 grit flap wheel.
Hung it up and sprayed it with some rust to primer stuff.
Gonna spray it with some bed liner and then mount it on her suburban. I am going to mount the big lights off my brown truck on it.
