The Wife's new ride - UPDATE: NEW SERVICE TRUCK

Since my wife's car is now out of commission, and Geico refuses to fix it, I had to do something about it. I have already met my personal repair limit on the car, so I wasn't going to put a $1,500 cloth top on t.

We have been looking since Friday for another vehicle. I found an ad for a 99 Suburban with no number. I was hesitant to contact him because it was past the limit I wanted to pay. I finally just decided to screw it and sent him an email. He called me back about 8 hours later. I explained my situation to him and told him flat out the limit I was working with. He was quiet for a few, then said come on.

I came home with this after a hour and a half drive one way.

It needs one of the rear barn doors adjusted, a/c system has a leak some where, front seats are wore out, the trim around the inside door handle on the drivers door is missing, the fender flares need to be painted, and the fuel gauge doesn't work. It has new tires, runs and drives like a new truck, fully loaded LT. And all for less then what I could have fixed the Lincoln.

Thanks

The interior is perfect except the trim on the door and the front seats. He even had floor mats over the original floor mats.

I think my buddy might have some good front seats for it. I have so little investment in it, that I have plenty of room for repairs without getting upside down in it.

$1500 - It should sell for around $4500 normally.

The Lincoln needs the top and hood repaired. That is about $2200 worth.

Not bad but I hope she doesn't drive it very far. That thing probably gets pretty horrid gas mileage

Thats typical of what most people think.

My Dads 99 burban gets 15 around town and 19 highway, i wouldnt call that horrid, and its roomy and comfortable.

Nice score Bud!!!!! I love suburbans, that one is clean! 1500 !!! YOU STOLE IT!!!!

Yeah, they get reasonable mileage. The last one I had like this got 19MPG, so not unreasonable. She only drives around 6,000 miles a year, so it isn't major issue as long as it isn't in the single digits.

My 94 Suburban is slightly tweaked and has gotten a consistent 24 MPG until I started fighting EGR issues. It is getting around 18 MPG with it now. Given that I plan an engine swap down the road, and the 350 in it is knocking, I am not going to worry with it right now.

I took the suburban down to my buddies garage and had him go through it thoroughly. He spent 2 hours checking everything he could. He found a worn out sway bar end link that is rattling and an oil leak that is nothing more then moisture forming. He said the leak isn't even forming a single drop.

Pretty impressive for a $1500 4x4 truck.
