And I'm really not sure how it'd act in a 6.0

to be honest, if I had the same sized stall but with a 6.0 I would go way bigger than a 228

what rpms do you cruise on the highway? How's the throttle response in 4th and ability to go up hills and stuff?

I looked today and I was around 2k rpms at like 65mph I think. It's really not near as bad as I thought it would be with the 4.11s. My highway pull in OD isn't anything special, it's not good but it's not bad either. Theres enough power there to pass a car without downshifting, but if I was to really wanna get up and get around someone it would definately take unlocking the converter. It does hold speed very well though, and can go up decent sized hills without losing much speed if any if you give it enough pedal. Typical of an LS based motor.

Now if you're asking for a highway comparison between my old cam vs the new one. I can hardly tell any difference at all between them.

I know exactly what you're talking about here. My 4.8 with 3.42s was HORRIBLE....if I hit a hill at 70 mph, I'd be at 60 by the top unless I downshifted to 3rd

My 6.0 now easily holds speed up hills and even accelerates up hills fairly easily with some throttle input. I'm pretty spoiled now. I will not sacrifice this for top end with the cam choice. The guy who developed the TR224 cam has started his own company now and has a 222/226 .597/.598 cam I'm seriously looking at. He claims it's a good improvement over the TR224. I'm just not sure if I want to push the PAC 1218 springs with that much lift.

stock. Ill be doing the cam, converter, and 4l80e all at the same time. Still undecided on stall manufacturer, or even size for that matter, 245mm 258 or 265. I like CircleD but he's charging $100 more than the 60e version whereas PI's 80e converter is $735, same as the 60e. I may also give FTI converter (sponsor on LS1tech, not many ppl know about) a shot. He claims he can built a 9.5" 3600 stall that drives just like stock but gains 7-8 tenths.

Have you ever driven a vehicle with an aftermarket converter?

Nope, that's whats making this such a pain in the ***! I have no clue what to expect. I've seen your videos and I'm sorry, but there's really no way I could live with revving to 3000 rpms everytime in stop and go traffic. That's too loose for me. I want something tight that's going to be relatively easy to drive yet really perform when I nail it. The obvious answer is to drive some stalled trucks, but there is literally no truck scene here!

This might be totally wrong from how most people do it, and might not be the best way to do it, but I think you should do the converter first and pick a cam that works good with how the stall feels.

With even a smaller stall (2600ish) the torque down low gets multiplied ALOT more. You'd be suprized at the kind of torque a higher stall gets you.
