STS Sivlerado 1/8 mile

I know thats the cam he recommended Allen recommends that cam to everyone, he puts in 4.8s to 6.0s, IMO its a bit big for a stick shift 4.8 that needs some low end grunt. I have driven a truck with a 220 cam in a 5.3 and it had no nuts down low on a stock stall. Of course it pulls well up top but what good does super high top end power do you in a heavy truck? By the time you get rolling the race is over as proven by your times. You need to get out the hole harder, whether it be using a two step to build boost off the line, going to a smaller cam or a smaller A/R housing on the turbo or a little of all you are lacking serious low end otherwise your times would be much better. Not trying to be a dick just giving you bit of friendly advice as to why your light turbo truck is running almost a second slower then my old exhaust, tune, small stall and 100 shot truck that weighs 1000 more #s.

it wasnt allen that recommended the cam, its actually STS, i called them and checked the FAQ. I also asked some guys at the FSC Forums and they said it was the best thing to put in. the 5000 rpm thing is only in 1st gear, other gears get full boost at 3000 RPM.
ill try to do somethin about it but im screwed with the exams right now.

I agree with what they said. But judging by this video you may also need a driver mod.

Edit: Transmission is definitely and issue. Here's my 0-100. While your top end is obviously going to have more power than mine. our 0-60's aren't a lot different and all i have is exhaust and tune.
looks like my 0-60 is about 8 seconds while your at around 7 to 8? did i read those right?
NOt ******* your system by any means you have alot of power up top, but you need to move some of it down low.

your right about that
since the cam's power is at the top end and the turbo is the same. not only that, the 4.8's power is at the top end too. so there's no power at low rpm's, what do u think could i do about it.

I wouldnt run that cam in a turbo setup. I know it comes reccomended, but without knowing some more about it and cant bash it too much. The durations seem wrong for a turbo though. If you build boost and you cant get it out of the motor boost is worthless. I ran a 226/232 with my turbo setup last year and it made sick power. It would be in boost 30' off the line and 60' in the 1.7's I think there is something you are overlooking. I really think that cam is the issue.

i put that cam in last year where i didnt actually think about a turbo but when i found a good deal a month ago, i just made sure that the cam would run ok with that turbo and bought it. so what do u think should i do about it? would tuning help much? turbo wrap?

Try swapping out to a Z06 cam. Those produce good power in a boosted 4.8. You also need to take it in to be tuned.
After that you need traction. I realize that our 0-60 mph times are only close because of all your wheel-spin so i'd recommend looking at some different tires.
Whats your Gear ratio and tire size?
