well i have been financially struggling and looking for something now for awhile that i can fit more than 2 ppl in. turns out my buddy wants to trade me straight up for my red truck for his 01' impala so that will work out pretty nice for a family vehicle. as far as a truck i still have to get rid of the Sierra though just cause of financial reason... im sure awhile back some of you guys remember reading about parts that ive had for sometime for the 73-87 body style, well now im gonna put them to use.
Currently this truck is a 85' 2wd. my intentions are to put this body onto a good 4wd frame that i have from awhile back wit a shitty body on it and a decent driveline. so as soon as my Sierra sells and i get some **** payed of i will be gathering accesories for the LS trucks (manifold etc.) to put my 4.8 into this with a 4L60E. i have a 4" suspension lift that one of my buddies gave me awhile back and a set of 32s that i bought almost brand new just recently for really cheap.
that all being said, in you guys opinion do you think it is worth it to have the 4.8 punched out to a 5.3 or 5.7 to spin my 32s... there not very big tires so i dont think it will have the problem but as far as money and labor what am i getting myself into? keep in mind i do NOT intend to mod this ex. if i do it a 5.3 i am getting a 5.3 cam and nothing else LOL
any opinions and comments would be greatly appreciated
thanks in advance for taking the time to read and help me out

if im not badly mistaken the diff. between the 4.8 and 5.3 is the stroke, no the bore. with that being said, yes i think you should bore out the 4.8 and put in a LS1 rotating assembly. that and a small torquey cam should work well in that truck.
those impalas are very nice! my dad had one and it got 32mpg on a hwy trip with 4people and luggage in it

ya i figured i could get a stock LS1 rotating assembly for pretty cheap just wasnt sure bout the machine work cost. wat kind of cam would you suggest just outta curiousity?
ya i know it will be so nice to get something wit good mpg lol. its the 3.8 model and its about as loaded as an impala gets aside from not having leather if they came wit it

yea some came with leather, ours had everything but sunroof and rear spoiler.
i would think something like a comp 212/218 or a 216/220, no bigger, id try the 212/218 high lift first then if you didnt like it ,get another
