picked up a $100 k&n filtercharger kit for my buddies truck, he was following me home to install it in his 02 Z71 extended cab


The background on the truck is that it was in nice original shape last time I was in it. A little before Christmas, he let a family member borrow the truck. Was only supposed to be 3 days. After a week, he couldn't find the truck. He got a call from a friend 35 minutes away saying his Jimmy was visible doing big burnouts. The friend went over and jerked his cousin out of the truck, drove off in it, and left his cousin standing on the side of the road. They got it back to my friends house to find the dash kicked out, the passenger side door damage, the back glass broken out, the tailgate badly bent out of shape, the front seats shredded, and the console lid broken. He said there was strings of rubber hanging down off the rear wheel wells from the burnout. 2 days later, another friend showed up with a video on his phone of the Jimmy rocker panel deep in mud out in a field. My buddy had never taken the truck off roading, never run it hard, and never even driven it in the snow. He has all the parts to put it back together and fix everything, but is going to wait until the body work is done to put the new interior in.

 

The engine builder said this thing should make 390-400HP. I was thinking that seemed a little wishful. This morning I was rolling down a clear back road, slowed to 15MPH and then gently rolled into it up to 3/4 throttle. No tire spin, just a speedo jumping from 15MPH to 65MPH instantly, fell like the back bumper dropped about a foot too.

I change my opinion about his numbers. I also resumed putting down the road.

Yeah, it's a pretty nice one. Drive through, has a private room, and a buffet.

 

In other news, we left it running while we fiddled with the parking brake. It decided to idle on down and talk for the camera. Hard to hear with the car's passing by, but you can get a better idea of what it sounds like.
