Default I think I need a stall...

I know it's not a time slip, but it was on about as flat of a highway there is, and the closest 1/4 mile track is about 4 hrs away. Got an 8th track about an hour away that I'm gonna hit up in the next couple weeks I think. The speedo is correct in my truck within a .5 MPH @ 80....

What cam do you have btw? Yeah you will def see a difference with a new stall. Look at a circle d 3000-3200, that is what I plan on getting soon.

My bottom end isn't that great with the stock converter (to be expected) but my top end is pretty damn good 50-100mph.

Track or Stall?

Stall is in the plan, I'll order it in another couple weeks, it's a DD, and I tow a little with it, Chris decided that the 2600-2800 278mm converter with the 40K cooler would be the best combo with the fact that I tow some. Track has Street drags every Friday.

This is a Z71, and I had 0 traction issues, so it does give a pretty decent estimate as to what it'd run at a track.

This is also still on my old BB tune. Justin's been real busy, so I'm waiting my turn.

I had that same cam in my truck with my 3600-3800 converter. Ran pretty good.

I feel that it would work the best with a 3000+ stall, I'm just worried about being able to keep the transmission cool when I pull my boat, it's only 2800# according to NADA, but there's a bunch of hills, and I don't know enough about drivetrains yet to be able to tell what I can and can't do. I'm also looking at a PB or FLT transmission before long, because I'm sure it's just a matter of time before the 60E gives out again, especially with a stall in it.

I'm in a RCSB

I'd stay away from a 9" converter, try to stay 10" or bigger. I'd also HIGHLY recommend a multi disk if you can afford it. Keeping the tranny cool really shouldn't be an issue with that tranny cooler. My lockup clutch in my converter is burned up and gone, and I've driven on the highway in 3rd and 4th with no lockup for almost an hour and tranny temps never got higher than what they usually were, and this was in the Texas summer. The 40k cooler is a beast.

Multidisk, sadly is a little out of the budget.

I'm thinking his 11" converter is going to give me the best bang for the buck and not break the bank at the same time. Would I do any harm to go with the 3000-3200 stall speed versus the 2600-2800?

I wouldn't imagine you'd notice a huge difference, but the looser of the two will run better.

the 2600-2800 is the same as the 3000-3200 when locked. i towed my ecsb wt 1hr with a 5.3/60e 3:42s with a 3200 converter no problem once i got moving and let the converter lock.

i say 3000-3200 circle d!!!! you'll love the converter
