That's just sad, but unfortunately that's one of the risks we take while dragracing.....

 

he was in the throttle for 1.5-2 seconds after the car first started to go sideways. there is a difference between tire spin and drifting

 

I've been there before in my 69'. The back end has got away from me in 2nd a few times and I let out and just coast. It's one thing to get loose in 1st gear, but in 2nd you're going a lot faster and things get ugly real fast. We've all had the back end loose in our trucks before, but it's just not worth it to me in that car. I enjoy racing it once and awhile, but it's getting to the point now that I don't want to risk being 'that guy'. If I'm going to wreck it, then I want it to be on the street and someone else's fault so my insurance will cover it and I can sue the **** out of someone. Our track prep sucks anyway.

See if he had a truck and race in 4wd he could have stayed in the gas and been fine....

From what I understand, the kid driving the car didn't own it. The guy that looked like he was going to break down afterwards did. Apparently the driver replaced the car.
