Went to the 1/4 with 28in dr's in 2wd...got a new best on motor but my stock G80 went to one wheelin' on Nitrous. Can you rebuild the new style G80's with clutches and steels? I was able to rebuild my 600hp Turbo Buicks and it held great. Not realy wanting to spend a bunch on a new posi right now. Anyway...motor pass..

I've never heard of anybody rebuilding a G80. By the way good runs for the ol work truck haha

 

Called a local GM place and found the part number for the clutches and steels. The factory G80 is an Eaton unit and rebuildable...About $170 for the kit. Interesting video explaining how it works...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTGZOJQQBeE

 

I would get a true performance LSD, that's just me though.

 

Yeah I agree...I have read the horror stories about g80's exploding. The Detroit Truetrac is a good one i'm looking at.
