Default which truck should i buy?

I'm looking for a truck for my wifey. It has come down to a 2002 Ford Ranger xlt offroad 4.0L or a 2002 Chevy S10 zr2 4.3L. Similar options, similar mileage. The ford is a little more money.

opinions please

A buddy of mine had a ZR2. He liked it. never really had a problem with it either. Towed a little with it and did some off roading too. I think the wife would like it. Not to big but it still a truck. Go for it

Go for the ZR2, for sure. Of course you are in the Chevy section, so I think most people will say the Chev in here.

But they are really good trucks, specially if you are looking for a good compact 4x4 truck. I was going to get one for my wife, but she decided she liked a '93 4 Runner more which at the time was more in our price-range anyway.

The V6 is decent, not overly powerful but will get the truck moving pretty good. Never really had problems with the one in my '99 ZQ8 other than the normal wear and tear. Looking at those pics, looks like that ZR2 is in good condition with reasonably low miles. Also looks like there's lots of tread on those BFG A/Ts.

Ya, I'd go with the ZR2, but I have some bowties tattooed on me so I'm kinda biased lol.... anyway, go with the ZR2.

Shop around for your best price locally then go online to Auto trader or trader online. I check online for a while until I found what I wanted. I live in Minnesota and found an 2000 S10 Xtreme in Chicago for my son and then found 03 SunFire in MO. for my daughter. These were like new, very low miles. Both from dealers, both deals beat the best price I could find locally and then the dealers cover my air fare to fly in and pick them up. Both dealers had the vehicles washed, waxed and a full tank of gas. I'd do it again, I don't mind driving a little to save a lot.

I've found a 00 silverado and a 00 sierra. the sierra is local and i drove it the other day. feels like it needs some major front end work. all over the road, lots of noise, vibration. also, it's throwing some codes and felt underpowered. no thanks, owned by a 16 y/0.

the silverado is a few hours away. looks perfect. haven't driven it yet. the truck belonged to the guy's father in law who is dead. the title is still in the dead guys name. my credit union said no way.

these are both rcsb 4x4 5.3L. If I can find one of those, i'd be psyched. $12000 or so is my limit
