supposedly hypertech is coming out with something soon, but I heard that last year also. No ones really done anything for it yet, which I don't understand. With the way that engine's designed there has to be huge room for improvement with just a n/a tune alone. I'm gonna get in touch with speed engineering and see what they say. Hopefully good stuff!

Default turbo charged colorado

I have built a turbo kit for the Colorado/Canyon I-5, the truck made 390hp/430ftlbs at the wheels. These power levels were achieved with 7lbs of boost, we are also working with HP Tuners to design tuning software for the I-5, we hope to have the software in our truck by the end of July. If everything goes as planned the kits will be available for purchase sometime in August. We are also building n/a headers for these trucks. You can check out pictures, video and dyno sheet at coloradofans.com

Colorado Sportruck, I'm on coloradofans.com (suthrntrndklr), I've read all there is to read on your turbo setup and it's awesome that you guys are stepping up and doing something. I've also read about your involvement with HPtuners and how your working with them. I'll admit like some of the other people I'm kinda wondering a little bit about the numbers your giving out (not trying to start a flame war, nor am I saying I that I think your lying or anything like that), but like I said, I'm really excited that your doing what your doing because it's showing interest and you guys are stepping up, unfortunately your like the only one stepping up though. Right now I'm EXTREMELY interested in the n/a header (along with tuning) like I pointed out on the other board, but I think over time I'm more inclined to do a 5.3 or 6.0 swap personally. You guys figure out a way to get around the speed limiter yet for a really good dyno pull and anything extra you can tell me about the hptuner setup for these trucks?

We are going to meet with the header fabricator sometime this week, we actually found a manufacturer within two hours drive of where we are which helps tremendously when it comes to going back and forth for the design. The header will be equal lenght with 15/8" dia. tubing, it will bolt directly to the stock exhaust. The HP Tuners software will eliminate the speed limiter among other items such as torque management, fuel maping, timing, shift programming for the automatic etc. We should have the program by the end of July, hopefully, and we will get a full 1/4 mile run on the truck then. Thanks

I saw a couple of posts last year from someone who stuffed an LS1 into his colorado. I believe he swapped the wire harness and PCM to support the new engine, which allow him to use any number of tuning options.

A turbo colorado would be nice too.

I would look for a wrecked silverado 5.3 or a 2500hd with the 6.0 in it, that way I can swap the motor and trans and have all the wiring needed to complete the job... hopefully. That pic surfaced on another forum I belong to www.coloradofans.com, and some of the guys on that site were screaming that the pic was photoshopped. I searched for the post and came up with this https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...light=colorado
I don't know exactly what they were looking at, but reading the thread the guy didnt seem to share a lot of technical how to's, but if it's been done that's what I'm looking to do anyway, so at least there's a way. I just need to figure out what parts he used because supposedly there's some other suspension pieces GM needed to use to fit the 6.0 in the concept Colorado SS

I change my mind too damn much. I don't think I'm going to go with a motor swap anymore. Too much work for something to risk not being legal considering right now I'm putting 100 miles a day on it back and forth from work. For the time being I think I'm just going to go with a stall converter, servo, maybe a shift kit............................................... ... and nitrous

From what I've heard from numerous other colorado owners and actual GM techs that have visited another colorado specific forum, the I-6 is too long to fit in the colorado's engine bay. I'm sure with enough money anything is possible, but if your going to pull an engine and go through the pain of having to custom wire things up, you might as well look for an LS1 or any newer truck engine (4.8-6.0) to make it worth your while and actually be sure that your satisfied with the time you put into doing the swap. Even if I found a way to put an I-6 in my colorado, whose to say a year down the road I wouldn't be kicking myself in the *** for not doing a V8 swap? I know the saying, "to each his own" so whatever you wanna do, I wish you luck and if you decide to do something, make sure you share how you did it!
