Been working on getting a cluster with a tach to work in this truck. Found out the hard way that the 98 and 99 clusters are way different. They plug in but don’t work right. Odometer is blank, gas gauge didn’t work and neither did the tach. Picked up a 2000 bravada cluster today from pick a part for $25 and everything works on it but the tach isn’t moving at all. Did a continuity test from red connector pin 10 to c101 a and has good continuity. Also tested straight from the pcm to the cluster plug pin a3 white wire which is supposed to be tach input and it has good continuity. Read somewhere online that the tach signals are weak and need a “pull up wire” which is 12v ignition on with a resistor wired to the tach signal wire and still nothing. Tried a 1.2k ohm and a .5k ohm resistor with no luck. If anyone has any other ideas please tell me what I might be doing wrong. This is driving me nuts.

Got to throw the truck on the dyno jet I regularly tune on today. Happy with the power it made. Kept the rev limiter at 6500 to keep it safe, power looked to taper off right after 6500. This dyno reads a decent amount lower then the dyno jet at English racing. I’ve had a turbo Honda I tunes that made 467whp/303 torque on their dyno and it made 533/337 torque. First pull truck made 318/292 and was pretty lean. Got it right about 12.6-12.8 and that’s where it made best power.

I think that's pretty respectable for a 4.8 with just a cam and bolt ons.

I’m happy with the numbers. The truck feels great, it’s just about 10lbs per hp to the tire so it’s plenty of fun. I might keep my eyes open for a 6.0l if I can find one for a deal but for now I’m plenty happy with the little motor.

What happened to "The higher power band is better so it doesn't just spin"?

Id look for an aluminum 6.0 or 6.2

Its the truth but rule number 1 when building cars or trucks is your always after more power.

Alright help me out here please. I have a new master and atomics pedal bracket ready to install when one of mine dies on either truck. However I want to do the extension trick really badly. So where exactly does the cut piece of rod go between? Feel free to paint an arrow on the provided pics lol

Does that rod pull out of the master? My s10 master rod pushy guy came right out and I inserted 👉👌 the space between the pushrod and master cylinder hole where that went.
