I'm wanting about a 2/3 or 2/4 drop and eventually change the wheels and tires. The tires on the one I'm getting are fairly new so they'll stay for a while, they're stock size on the alloy wheels.

I haven't put a nice aound system in one since I was in HS but since this will be my DD I'm thinking about new components for the doors, a nice deck and either a single 10" or two 8" subs, nothing more... I just want clean music for the hour+ ride to and from work one way.

Ill also be putting a wideband on it and tuning it for mileage with HPT, not planning on any exhaust. Probably just an intake, pullies and fans, like I said, I've got my Grey Goose if I wanna go fast

Other than that, a simple debadge and drive, if I were to put badges, it would be off an older SS S-10. That would be it though if any.

Ill take your steering advice as well... Those sound like good additions. Quicker ratio and smoother feel always makes it nicer.

All this is for a 2000 S-10 reg cab stepside 2WD

s10forum.com isn't bad if you go into the specific boards. but there is a larger concentration of jackasses on that site then any other truck forum I have been on. I like looking through the projects part of it, and I hang out in the lsx discussion alot. there is some good info on there for most anything you ant to do. but there is also alot of us here with s-10's and experiance with doing most anything with them.

but as far any questions you have for your little truck.

-inchup has done lifting and tons of 4wd work with his straight axle truck along with an lsx swap.
-blackx has a 9 second daily dime with a forged 370 turbo, has done 3 lsx builds and a super chaged 4 cyl.
-razors10 is building an s10 in the projects section.
-I have dropped, lifted, done tranny swaps, and am doing an engine swap now.

there are alot more people on here that have done basic through extensive stuff on these little trucks. i'm sure if you need anything we can help.

look for the s-10 warehouse on ebay. His prices are sometimes high, but he has or can get just about anything you can imagine for an s-10.

I prefer belltech drop components on the s-10's cause the have a much better all round ride. The steering box should only cost around $50 for a good used one from a salvage yard. I purchased the stabalizer for $25 new in the box will all the brackets.

Heads up on one big thing. If the PS pump starts making noise, don't play games replace it immediately. The pulley will fall right off. Also watch the upper ball joints, even gentle driving I have had the top snap and drop my rotor right into the upper A-arm. I just make a habit of checking them the second I get the truck. I jack the front up, lay on my back, and put my feet against the top and bottom of the tire. If there is any play replace them.

My favorite 96 jimmy went from 80K clean to 375K with no major problems. The things I have mentioned, and just regular oil changes. I did replace the axle, but thats because I hit an man hole COVER. The guy bought it from me and put it straight on the drag strip.

Well what kind of leaf combo would you use to get a 3 to 4 inch drop? Ill be using spindles on the front... Its not going anymore than 2" down.

Like I said, I had multiple packs and would just play with them till I got what I wanted. It was about 4 years ago last time I built a pack. I had a 4 leaf pack and a 3 leaf pack. I am thinking I took the top leaf (has the eyes) from the 3 pack, the second from the 4 pack, and put it back with the over load (very bottom, doesn't touch other leaves) from the 3 pack. I don't recall exactly, I know I had to take it apart because the first pack I built was to weak to hold the truck up. It was also a gutted box body, which wieghs less then a bubble body.
Said truck on 14's, just sat engine in

Said truck no motor, with 15's and 295/50's out back

diferent truck Stock on 15's 295/50's in back

If you just want to buy a set of leaf springs, I think belltechs sell for $75 a side new. Think that might be a 4 inch drop by themself.

Avoid drop blocks over an inch on s-10's, if not all together. The leafs are weak enough. The axle wrap is incredible with anymore then that.

I bought the baby blue one to tinker with, no front coils, and only the top leaf in the rear with that huge lowering block thats hold the tire. It sat about an inch off the ground. I broke a tooth when I hit a bump taking it home. First thing to do was build springs for it. I tore that truck completely apart and put it back together. Drove it up and down the road for awhile, took it all apart, put the pieces on a better truck, then crushed it. Then sold the other truck.

My sig below is a 3.5 front drop and 4.5 rear drop.

The truck is a ZQ8 which is 1.5 inches lowered with springs. My front has been lowered additionally with Belltech 2" spindles. The rear is with the 1.5" stock drop leaves with 3" blocks.

Also, that pic doesn't look much like it does in person. The truck is actually completely level, that pic is on a slight hill.

Looks nice! That's about the drop I'm wanting to DD with, nothing lower. I have thought about old 'vette rallies too but I'm not sure how they'd go on a stepside... I may do a set of ZR-1 wheels.... Haven't decided yet.

Hard to go wrong with a set of classic looking wheels. Same wheels on 2 different trucks of mine. ZR1 wheels look great on the s-10 but require spacers.

My theory, there is never enough brakes.

The cost of the drop spindles are the same, and I believe the dual piston calipers are only like $25-40 a piece new at autozone.
