Default Who offers forged 5.3L pistons

I did a little searching here as well as looking at some piston vendors. I did not see any flat top, stock bore pistons for 5.3L engines. Can someone please recommend a manufacturer that offers forged pistons that will work with stock 5.3L rods and crank, stock bore (96.01mm)

Thanks,
Andrew

I'm not sure anybody makes them. Bore your block to a 5.7 and you'll have a ton of choices.

I don't want to do that. Surely some one here has upgraded pistons without machining the block.

You can have them custom made. But nobody makes them off the shelf.

His pistons were custom made, $$$.

I know you said you didn't want to bore it, but SDPC has a set of budget forged, flattop pistons and rings for LS1 bore that are cheaper them most off the self pistons you'll find. Including the cost of boring, probable around the same price as finding a set of stock sized forged pistons IF anyone even makes them.

This may be a stupid question, but can you for sure bore a 5.3 to a 5.7 and drive it on the street with no overheating problems? Thats alot of material to take out. Is the block the same (mines iron)? Any relevant info would be welcome.

There are no issues with boring to the 5.7 bore. That is well documented. I just don't want to do it. One reason being that I have an aluminum 5.3L block and I like the idea of hicker walled sleeves.

The sleeves in the L33s arent thck enough to bore out to 3.905(standard LS1 overbore). JE can make you anything you want just be prepared to dish out about 700 for a set that includes wrist pins but you will need rings too which will run 130. Thats what the prices were a year and a half ago when I spec'ed out my 418 so they may be more expensive now. Aluminum prices have gone crazy lately along with everything else.

A 3.905 bore 5.3 block is what I am putting in, although with forged pistons and good rods. We have done this before, and there are no issues at all.
